Critically, [the] ‘digital’ world offers everyone enormous benefit[s] and advantages. Having said that[,] without proper use and understanding of technology, the digital world can be overwhelming.

Many people know digital literacy as how to take a selfie or update on Facebook. In fact, it means understanding technology and using it appropriately.

Several important topics within digital literacy includes avoiding plagiarism, cyberbullying, digital footprints and internet safety. Now more than ever, I’ve been questioning myself “why [is] digital literacy important?”. In light of the evidence on [a] 2020 study, I have a better understanding why [this is] important.

Coupled with the meaning of digital literacy, this is important for everyone to know the basics about navigating the internet and also evaluating the information. Then again, every [person] must know [that] everything on internet is not correct. Fake information, news or document is everywhere so when using information found on the internet it really needs to be evaluated to be assured that it is real. Above all, it seems pertinent to remember that digital literacy is important to make sure everyone share[s] with care, be internet alert, secure our secrets, be internet kind and when in doubt, talk it out.
